In light of some comments here and some changes elsewhere, I would like to thank you again for starting and maintaining "The Victorian Sweatshop Forum"  [thumb]

There are so many things about this site that I appreciate including the people here and the manuals that have been shared along with various "goodies" that have been found and shared, by all and for all.

I also like the software being used and the features available.
The screen color isn't glaring stark white.
The colors have good contrast and are not hard on those of us with "mature eyesight"
I'm not a fan of light fonts, but those items on here have a good contrast and make it easy to read.
I find the site easy to navigate.
I appreciate that the section where the posts are covers the majority of the width of the page.
I appreciate that I can enlarge the text and not have to scroll across the screen to be able to read it.
Since we know how well we like pictures and I have been better about getting pictures, I appreciate that I don't have to break up a post to get all the pictures in one post.
It is easy to post images.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some of the other things that make this such a great site.

So a great big THANK YOU!!!!!

Janey

VSF site is splendid, especially in the morning with coffee.  I love Victorian Sweatshop Forum because it serves its members well--a place to learn, a place to share  ideas and pics of our machines and projects.  I use the Search Tool quite often to re-read an article that helped me through a machine problem.  Where would I be without my VSF?  Thank you so much Steve.

Everything everyone else said, but most especially the above! I've been decrying white screens since they first came around in 1984 - no wait! I saw them earlier on some dedicated Xerox word processors - which were much nicer than anything we have today as far as usability, but they *did* have that awful white background. The PC industry ruins everything it touches...

I couldn't agree more! Thank you, Steve, for this forum!  I am so glad to have a place to talk vsm's and learn from others (and share what little I can). This is the second forum I have joined recently so I have something to compare it to. As a recent arrival I have found it to be quite user friendly and easy on the eyes as I learn to navigate and figure out how everything works. Love that I get an email when a thread I have posted on gets a post! Love how friendly and helpful everyone is! Setting up and running something like this can't be easy (at least I wouldn't find it so) - so thank you for putting it here for us!

Thanks everybody.  I REALLY appreciate this today.

Two weeks ago, I gave a presentation to my CEO regarding our desperate need to replace our aged networking equipment.  He decided NOT to spend the money at this time

Friday we had a Power outage that lasted 6 hours.  At the end of that joy, we discovered that our old network switch had taken a dive off the deep end.

We spend all day Friday and Saturday removing the mass of network cables and the old equipment.

We put in our spare and IT failed....  That was enough.
We took Sunday to rest and got at it at 7am today

With my brain finally clear, I realized that the spare that worked in our test area that did not work in the server closet, could only meant the issue was in the server closet.

It turns out that the Power outage had actually fried our UPS (uninterruptible power supply).  We replaced that this morning and the old switch fired right up!

I had already come up with a work around, so they requested we not take the network down to repair until after 5pm today.

So, I am about to begin the process of replacing 86 Data cables and sorting out the local network again...

These posts give me a very needed boost today, THANKS!!!

Steve

I love coming to VSS forum...I think it is my normal healthy addiction.  It is something that I love to read every day.  I love the members that I have met on line and in person.  I love the camaraderie.  I love the learning.  I love the treasures that I discover.  I have learned to control myself to mainly only look but every so often I stumble and buy. Lol lol lol

So thank you Steve for helping me improve my life by starting this site!!!

Ditto to all the remarks and kudos regarding this forum site. Way better than any other I belong to or have belonged to. Those I have left can't touch this site for quality and content and above all, openness and freedom. Keep up the good work.

I have learned so much from this group- such an interesting gathering of like-minded folks sharing their expertise and challenges - VSM related and sometimes not!   It's a fun adventure to be part of and, I ,as well, so appreciated both the founding and maintenance work.

Thank you, Steve.

There's some sort of irony there.
And thank you Steve for a great site!

I agree with everything said before me!  Thank you Steve for keeping this site up and open and allowing for such freedom to speak!  I've been on some sites recently that have such a long list of things you had better not do at the risk of being thrown out!  Places like that make me afraid to talk at all for fear I am crossing a line!  It's lovely to feel to speak and ask questions!  Everyone here is always so helpful and it's easy to search out information on past threads too!

I agree. I don't come here often - just when I have a sewing machine problem. Thanks, Steve for providing this venue.

Also, thanks to all of you for sharing your expertise so generously.

I only come on once a week or so to read, but I always learn something new to file away for later, so thank you!

Been gone for a much-needed few days off from our re-model project (to the beach, of course), so missed the opportunity to say a big THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! to Steve for making this available and for everyone else for belonging and participating!  This is my happy place, where no one thinks I'm weird for owning more than (AHEM) machines (weird for other reasons, maybe, but not my machines, lol).  Morning coffee I spend with ya'll....often check again in the evening when I hit my recliner.

Just remember folks, this site is only what it is because of YOU.
The only "special" thing that I am doing is keeping my ego in check(mostly) and staying out of the way.
This site is a pleasure to visit because YOU are pleasant people!
