Had a 29-4 dropped in my lap. This machine has not been treated kindly but thought it was worth a try.   Needed some adjustments but got it to stitch.  Problem is that I can only get 12 SPI.  Took it apart and it looks to me like the foot bar(#8685 plate 1043) is bent.

Is anyone familiar with whether or not the one side should be totally straight except for the notched portion or is mine correct with a bend and a notch?

I've tried to highlight the area in question.

TIA

Dang, just had mine a part a few days ago.  The plate from the parts manual appears straight on that edge. I remember it being straight.

The angle of this pic of mine is off to show for sure, but it looks straight. DSC07588.jpg

okay thanks.  I will try straightening it and reassembling to see if that helps.  I'm pretty sure this machine has been dropped at least once.  The lifter is bent slightly.

Thought I would report back.  After straightening and reassembling I am able to get 7 spi.  Not sure how long it will last but I'm good for now.
