I got the call a little after 3:00 this afternoon (Florida time).  My dear cousin who had a quilt shop in Oklahoma (Village Quilters, in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma) passed away at 3:00 p.m today.  She was 74.  Just a few short weeks ago, she was diagnosed as being terminally ill, with a life expectancy of 6 to 18 months.  She will be sorely missed.  I talked to her 2-3 times a week, so I will definitely miss her a lot.

Oh, Jeanette, I'm sorry to hear of your loss.  And, at this time of the year.  May your good memories help you through this loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss Jeanette. There has been so much loss this year that I'm glad it's almost over.

We had a loss a few days ago too and my heart has been breaking over and over again since we got the news. A one month old baby, not directly related to me but still family.

Cari

Sounds like you have lots of good memories to help you. My suggestion is to talk to her ...while you are home alone..?.as if she was still alive and pretend you are on the phone sharing with her. Hope that idea helps with adjustment to your great loss. Especially hard for ladies like me that are 74.

I'm so sorry, Jeanette. I know you really loved your cousin. Prayers for you and your family for peace in this hard time. Right before Christmas makes it even harder. Know that your friends here care for you!

Folks, thank you for your good wishes.  I know that my cousin is with the Lord -- you know, we cry for ourselves because we miss the one we've lost.  It is hard to let go!

Kathleen, I'm 71 -- so I'm getting to that age!

Cari, it's really hard when it's a child -- I don't know from personal experience, but a man who worked with my Dad many years ago lost twin six-month old granddaughters to crib death, and their life had barely begun.  I am so sorry for your loss, too!

Jeanette and Cari, what sad news you've both had. May the love you shared with those who passed fill the broken spots in your heart.

I am so sorry for your loss of a loved one. My prayers are with you, Jeanette. And with you, too, Cari. I lost a 4 year old third cousin this year to heart disease.

Cari, I'm so sorry for your loss as well. Losing a child, any child, is such an awful experience. I'll pray for you and your family.

Oh Jeanette, I'm sorry to hear that.

Losses always seem especially poignant this time of year.  [frown]  I'm so sorry you lost her right before the holidays.

My dad died in a car accident 14 years ago tomorrow.  I still get a cold lump of fear in my gut around this time of year, knowing I have loved ones out on the roads. It's superstitious, but I can't help it.

Be careful everyone, and hug your loved ones often!

Sewnoma,

I know exactly what you mean.  Many years ago, (about 20)we were on our way to visit my parents at Christmas time.  There was a propane truck in Memphis -- the driver lost control, and crashed into a lot of vehicles and an apartment building.  A car was involved that was very similar to the car we had at that time.  My Dad saw the newscast film, and was absolutely tied in knots, for fear it had been our car which got smashed, exploded and burned, but, of course, it wasn't.  He was so glad when we arrived!  I know what you mean, though.  My parents always worried about us making that long trip, and I do understand why.  I worry, too!

So sorry to hear of the losses. My husband travels most of the year and I always worry until he gets home. My daughter just had our first grand daughter so now I get another worry along with the joy.
Have a Merry Christmas and if you can't be merry try to do something for someone to make them happy. Even a complement works.

For those of you who knew Miller Fulks, from eg. Treadleon, Needlebar, or Wheeler Wilson group,
sadly, just heard Miller passed away.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about Miller.  He and I had a lot of great conversations from the NeedleBar regarding Wheeler Wilson attachments.  He was so knowledgeable about them and very generous with that knowledge, such a loss.
