Just pointing out. The moderator who bans people for posting a link posted that treadle sink as a link... so yes it was bait. If people from this group were not still on that forum I think the vintage sewing machine end of it might go down might go down. The question is should that be allowed to happen??? Let her run it into the ground?
Cari, start a forum about embroidery sewing. Run her out... I’ve been back on there the last couple weeks but I’m done. That place needs to be let go.

I don't know the first thing about starting a forum. I do help moderate a Facebook group(Vintage Japanese machines)but all I do is accept new members when they answer the questions on the admit page, I leave the questionable requests to someone else for rejection. The only other thing I've done as a mod is to message someone who posts a pic of a non Japanese machine and very politely ask them to take down the post so the group doesn't get diluted. I used to belong to a machine embroidery help group but it got out of control with know-it-alls making really wrong suggestions to newbies and the pros getting all huffy about it instead of helping the new people. I haven't been to that group in at least two years. Everything I know about machine embroidery has come from reading, reading, reading articles and tutorials written by pros, and trial and error. I still make at least one test stitch out every time I want to embroider something and that's a good thing because I still make mistakes even after 6 years of doing it.

Cari, I just noticed today that all your posts are gone on the QB! I'm really sorry. I've always enjoyed reading your advice there. You are right, the sink was bait.

If the QB doesn't like the vintage sewing machine subforum why do they let it exist? In all the other forums there are no rules for posting links to other sites, so why is it frowned upon in the VSM forum?

I'm very surprised I haven't been kicked off yet, especially when I had a political battle last year, lol! "Her" CAPS thing really gets me ticked off too.

I'm also noticing there are so many new QB members who only join the QB for VSM advice. They might post only one or two times, but with all the seriously knowledgeable VSM experts being banned, their answers are not as thorough or helpful. I'm sure most of them give up in the hobby, if they don't get the advice or knowledge they need. I know I don't know much about VSM, and I would never have been able to restore the few that I have without the help of the help I received from the QB a few years ago. It's just sad.

She is just a moderator right?? Has anyone complained to the administration about her behavior? It may be that they view her as a loyal watchdog but they might change their mind if they knew what a bully she is, how she reads PMs, and that she has it out for those on the V & A board. If no one says anything then she will reign forever.

Reading PMs is a bridge too far.

So, she's petty AND ethically corrupt. Lovely.

Looking forward to The QuiltQueen pissing off someone who has a kid with pals in 4chan. Somebody gonna drop a house on that.

Hello group,

I like the idea of contacting other folks involved in the running of QB group to let them know there is a serious issue.  I have a theory....does QB somehow get money when very expensive long arm and automated machines are sold?  That would explain their disdain for vintage as there would be no money supporting it and shame on anyone who can make a better quilt on a 15 dollar Goodwill.com machine with a little grit and resolve!!   It sounds to me like a bad mix of horrible personalities along with greed.  They have allot of members.   I bet there needs to be some bloggers to point out the problems....especially someone who never joined QB but instead documented their issues as well as "the good ole days" of the board compared to the current ones.  It reminds me of the episode on the TV sitcom Seinfeld "The Soup Nazi" where people who complained about "no bread" were told "no soup for you" and folks would stand in line to eat the soup knowing if they mis stepped they were going to be without........except in this case there are much better alternatives than QB out there making this "Quilt Queen" a wanna-be soup Nazi or even a soup Nazi imposter.  No I'm not a Democrat and yes I'm a Republican so please don't complain about me throwing around the White Nationalist thing when referring to Seinfeld (meant as humor not serious) I just like a little humor and even better dry humor.  Wikipedia link regarding the plot is a good laugh and reminds me of this QB moderator gone bad.  Best regards, Mike  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Soup_Nazi

Hehehe......I have thought of her as the QB gestapo.............ALL of my posts are gone? Wow, I really did piss her off. Sorry about that to any and everyone it affects as far as info and help, it wasn't my intention.

QB is a money making forum. There have been complaints about her but I think she's a buddy of the main admin. A forum as large as QB needs to be run as a "tight ship" so to speak, otherwise it'll get out of hand very quickly. But I don't get the seriously, obviously biased and hypocritical way she runs it and gets away with it.

There's a guy in the group I mod for that I can't stand but I let him be, ignore him most of the time, heck sometimes I even agree with something he says. He did something a while back that probably gives me grounds for kicking him out of the group but since it didn't affect me the way he thought it would I just ignored it. I think he ignores me too now. It works for both of us.

OK, so I got a snotgram.  My location is Victorian Sweatshop that belongs to a member who was banned.  And she said to change my signature.  Don't think I will.

I think your signature is Clever. Interesting she didn't edit your post like she did someone else.

I wish I knew how to word a message to the admin & other moderators.  I don't know how they can keep letting her get away with her lack of common sense and her coming to the board with
"-knotted shorts
-twisted knickers
-cranky pants"
Which is totally against the "rules"  Saying that you can't list your location as the site of a banned member Is totally insane.

She of course edits out posts about moderation. and all caps and deletes posts that are truly helpful and informative and even entire threads, when she sees something she doesn't like..

The only things that I have seen edited by other
moderators is a couple from a long time ago, that had personal information in the post. Or their own posts for spelling or something.

Don't go getting yourself banned because of what's already happened, unless that's what you're up to. I don't miss her but I do miss some of the people there. I'm still mad at myself for falling for her bullsh$t.

Sounds to me like NB and QB ought to get riveted together. They both seem to like to add scalps to their war lance.

I wonder if she is in charge of the advertising?  This might be a way to let others know what she is up to.  If she is not in charge of advertising and does not hold the purse strings then she is accountable to someone.  Best regards, Mike

I hoped over to QB just because this thread reminded me of them and I can't figure out what is going on.  I know I hardly ever go there unless my research leads me there but I'm sure I haven't been banned yet.  I've been reprimanded, but not banned, BUT! many of the threads I try to see are blank post after post.  I can see the tag lines at the bottom, but none of the actual conversation.  WTF?  In other threads I can read everything.  I think that place is just falling apart!

You must have been using search within QB. This has been happening since the middle of November when they did an 'upgrade.' Supposedly they have a tech working on it. You have to refresh the page and it will show up. I told several ways to refresh a page on several threads. I know one at least was deleted when 60 of my posts got deleted.

Exactly.  I was using the search function.  When I signed in some photos of quilts popped up and I wanted to see one closer, and couldn't find it.  The search function got me nowhere.

I remember using QB to help me clean up and revive my very first VSM, a Singer 66 in 2010 or 2011. There was a great guy with info by the name of Billy. He had quite a few tutorials. I do not remember what the reason was but all of the sudden one day he is GONE. Granted he was a “character” if you know what I mean. Actually, I liked him...he was sort a of a comical wise guy. I think that was my first experience with someone being “banned” on QB. It was a big disservice and frustration to me as a total newbie to have Billy just disappear. He really helped me a lot at the time with his info.

Just my 2 cents worth of info.

Gaak. Received an email from QB. They are initiating a (daily?) newsletter. Default is "subscribed."
How fast did I click on "unsubscribe?' 😉

Kathy, I like helpful "characters" too. As long as the joking around isn't intended to be mean.

Thank you, Lori. I didn't see that the first time. There was a note at bottom to see entire email. It was only then that I saw that I had to "unsubscribe."

Thank you!

Hello group,  How long ago did Billy get banned?  Now it surely appears that this has been going like this all along and not just a new issue with QB.  So, QB must have risen in popularity because of the name they came up with for the board and possibly it was one of the earlier ones on the subject.  Sometimes it is all about semantics.  I see QB is it's own domain.   Surprised nobody has started a QB board somewhere else except I'm not a quilter.  Not like they have applied for trademark protection or anything.  Then people could argue on who is the "real QB".  Best regards, Mike

Billy left or got banned in 2011.  He was quite the character.  I remember he got hurt and owed a few people sewing machines. Like about a year overdue.  There was also a stickey he created about cleaning a machine head with non pumice Gojo.  A lady followed the instructions and ruined her Redeye decals  Ah, the good ole days.

When I first joined QB I went back and read almost every post in every thread on the machine side. That led me to a couple of blogs by members who were active back when Billy got banned. One blog in particular I still remember, it was by a woman named Charley in Portland, Oregon. According to her, Billy convinced several women he could repair their machines if they sent them to him. Then he supposedly got hurt, contracted some disease, blah, blah and so on....there were supposedly several excuses over a long period of time as to why he hadn't returned the machines. I don't know if any of this is true as it was before my QB time, I'm just remembering what Charley had to say about him.

I left QB when Steve put this site together.  I didn't leave because I was in trouble or anything like that.  It's just that it turns out my main interest is the machines, not the quilting.  Even then it was pretty easy to tell vintage machines were tolerated at best over there.
They're very focused on advertising dollars-to the point of hurting themselves in the long run.

LOVE IT!

I have taken the M-B test multiple times over the years along with several others. My company seems to think it is a good idea. [rolleyes]

I inevitably come back as either an Introverted Extrovert or an Extroverted Introvert. Haven't managed to hit an even split on it yet. [tongue] Just depends on the mood that day.
