Trying to figure out a sewing machine with no name I fell down a rabbit hole. The other end of the hole brought me out in Dayton Ohio. The city is known to most of us as the adopted home of the Davis Sewing Machine Company, but, interestingly enough, there was another sewing machine manufacturer in town. There was also Household.

According to stuff I've read online (so it must be true) Davis moved to Dayton in the 1880s
and so did Household who 'spun away' fro Providence Tool in Rhode Island.

Household is said to have gone bust in 1909. Davis would take another 20 years to do that and it was after a long association with Sears & Roebuck making Minnesota labelled machines.

So here's the pickle:

Unidentified machine above appears to be...

Which has a very uncanny almost exact resemblance to:

Which it can't have. Ha. There is no known record of Household making Minnesota machines... for that matter, according to one source
the only machine model Household ever made was a copy of the Domestic (light running) High Arm. So you see, the first machine looks like
the second which is a machine that shouldn't exist to begin with! Oh my...

Don't ya love a good mystery?

Mystery somewhat solved. Found another machine identical to these called a New Vassar... and that did it. These are all Davis made machines. One would presume around the same time period. Which means that somehow... Davis managed to get hold of the Household name which isn't on any list I've seen so far of names that Davis used. Now it's an issue of when they were made... but otherwise it's pretty darn cool. =)

I think you should consider writing mystery stories - centered around sewing machine factories & sewing machines. Pink panther style would be interesting...or maybe Sherlock Holmes....or even Angela Landsbury, lol.  (It's been a long day....)
