I celebrated the New Year by finishing the initial pass of clean-up of my new 1861 glass tension W&G. They slathered paint (two coats!  paint and primer!) on curly thread guides, presser foot spring and lever, presser and needle bars, glass tension disks, felt washers, every screw head....  everywhere!  Well, everywhere but the cloth plate, which they let rust so that now the patents are barely legible, and the covered hook and feed dog mechanism, which also rusted.

But when I got it back together, it made stitches immediately!  I'm hoping it's an omen for the New Year.

Wishing everyone all the best!

paul, who knows he has to do something about those screws on the cloth plate...

Happy New Year everyone!  I am slowly working my way through the piecing of the centerpiece placements which I'll donate to our church fellowship hall.  Thought this would be a good project to exercise my Rocketeer.  Oh my, I'm spending as much time turning the wheel by hand, getting out the oil, rags, q-tips, etc. and searching for spots I've missed.  It still is s-l-o-w, unpredictable, and frustrating.  It does make nice stitches though.

Happy New Year to all!  My sewing machine goal this year:  To get far enough along on our building/remodel process that my beloved sewing machines will come safely out of Dry Box storage and into the house!!!!!  (Can't WAIT!!!!)
