I've got to get my stuff posted.  I  took the five cases I have and put together a chart showing all the machines on each one.  Rather interesting what got dropped and what got added.

I did discover there are a few "combinations" that would be for machines I don't have.  will have to research those and find out what Mfg they are.

I did read somewhere that they thought the * may indicated rotary,  but I disagree with this.  Too many of the rotary machines are listed,  and too many that would be both rotary and VS are not starred (Like Singer).

However, I do know that several of the * names are found from more than one Manufacture.   Favorite* is listed with New Home shuttle and needle,  the one  I have is made by Standard.  I have anther machine like that,  and have found others where the name was used by more than one Mfg - and those names are starred too.

I have a few Boye tubes that don't conform to the lists and are called Boye Old Style numbering system.  There is an old style chart in the "Boye Oh Boye" article above.  My first Boye tube I ever purchased was supposed to be Davis Long or Boye 10.  I got Boye 10 old style which was New Home 20x1.  Old Style on top, new or regular on bottom

jon,   my oldest  case has the older numbers.

They are simply "swapped" between some of the machines - don't remember them all

But I do recall that one 'swap" is White/Singer

So on my old case,  the Whites are 15/16  and Singer 11/12  and on the second number system (way most common) they are White 11/12 and Singer 15/16

I had a lot of needle cases in the oldest case, and while they did have different items in them,   they were no differently looking on the outside than the cases that came with my next oldest case.

when I put together my list,  I converted the old numbers to the new numbers because I was comparing what was on the list,  not the numbers.

Hmm- that reminds me - I have the New Remington incorrect.  That one is only on the oldest case,  and I could not read it on my pictures.   So I went out and looked and it's 10 - but that is the old number system so it's actually something different on the new system.  I will have to fix that one.

Wow. :-) Thank you so much for all of this wonderful information. I have a number 10 shuttle, which is not referenced on any of the charts. Seems like it goes from 9 to 11 and skips number 10 completely. I was sent the #10 mystery shuttle off of an online site when I was trying to order for one of my VS singers.

#10 shuttle works famously in my 1910 singer 127 Memphis Sphinx πŸ˜ŠπŸ€”

(Geeking Out) 😊😊😊

Boye 10 is a needle rather than a shuttle tube.  Boye 15 held Singer shuttles.  The tube contents are often mixed up though your shuttle is proper for Singer.

I read that there is a shuttle that will work in the White VS that does not have the center post. I'd have to go back and find the number on that shuttle. I found the correct shuttle for the machine but no bobbin. I am starting to think I might be better off to go with this other shuttle.

So my shuttle, marked with # 10 on it, is a boye shuttle? And these were also for singers? Thank you. It doesn’t take much to confuse me ha ha

This site unfortunately doesn't seem to work anymore.  Does anyone know if it's moved, or, perhaps, have a copy we could put up here on VSF?

My most interesting Boye find since 2016 is an Old Style Rotary Cabinet with 13x1 needle #24 and American Old Style #21.  Usually #24 is New Royal 20x1 and #21 is National / Eldredge Rotary 20x1.  A missing link of sorts.
