There is a nice article online from the Harvard Magazine about a treadle machine that nobody at Harvard wanted. Nice SM history too. http://harvardmagazine.com/2017/01/an-orphaned-sewing-machine

I finally took time to read the article this evening.  Fun read! Beautiful machine and yet such work for the author to find it a good home.  Funny story about the 6th grader trying to learn threading and sewing.  Too bad she didn't have a kind, hands on type teacher.
