This is a thread for posting good deals you find online.  CL, EBay, Etsy, etc

This should not be for stuff you or your friend are selling,
that is what "Members stuff for sale" is all about

From what I've seen that Pfaff is a screaming deal.  The Brother isn't bad either. The W&G is very nice.

My thought is that this site it to help folks find stuff.  If YOU want to keep it a secret go for it.  If you think it is cool, share it!

If you are trying for something, you can always let folks know, but remember others may "snipe" it anyway.

And it's almost tax refund time so not only are the bidders gonna start getting crazy the asking prices are gonna start going up.

That #8 is just beautiful.  The #9 is a good price and the machine itself is in great shape.  The cabinet drawers have some trim missing.  I think there's ways to make castings to duplicate the missing trim but I haven't tried them.

I'm drooling over the #8 too,  but until I can find a place for it,  I have to sit on my hands.

Now if a nice hand crank came up . . .   just don't have room for another treadle stand.

A good candidate for a repaint:
http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions/Old--Singer-Sewing-machine-for-parts-or-repair-27112266.html
Featherweight w/ severe corrosion and missing paint.
It will be interesting to see how high the bidding goes.

Rodney if it is Indianapolis, I have the current bid even though those are not my favorite machine. I expect it will go way up anyway.

Looks like it's the same one.  You probably saw the other one that's about half parted out too then.

Here's a fun one that doesn't come up too often.

That C&C display would be neat,  I've got a whole bunch of "boilfast" thread I'd love to display.  It's small wood spools and almost like emboridery thread.  Quite brittle with age though,  so not usable.

That Riccar is pretty cool.  They came up with some interesting designs.
My newest machine is a Riccar from I'm guessing the 80s.  It folds up like a suitcase when you're not using it.  Only problem is the plastic gears are stripped.  I looked about a year ago and they're still available.  It just hasn't been a priority to fix it.

I'll just have to hope one shows up closer to me.  Though DH did say we could make a trip to Milwaukee,  but that would have to wait until all that white stuff is history!

Rodney that's a common issue with Riccars, it's why they kind of went by the wayside. Have you ever went in and Bs'ed with Greg at Cen-Che? He used to be a Riccar dealer.

Ok, I'll bite. What is it?

I'm guessing some type of early Singer 15 variation...

Definitely not a Singer 27.

I just snuck out to the "quilting cave of the she beast" and saw that she has two of those in stock. One has some faint details, the other fits your description of "just black".

Looking back at that Craigslist ad, the decals on that machine are indeed VERY nice.  That will be a good acquisition for someones collection, to be sure.

OH so not the case...  LOTS of oldies out here.

W&W #8
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/atq/5420175280.html

If you use Search Tempest, put in your zip code and the distance you are willing to travel, then your search term, it will search ALL of the craigslist locations in that radius.

EASY to find lots of old machines out here!

Yes.  Heather and I will be available to drive up there on the three day weekend of February 13,14,15

There is a TOGA at my friend Carla's place in Vacaville the weekend before that, and I am beginning the install of our all new networking system here at work the weekend after.

I recently heard back from the truck driver who has offered to do the transport, but their schedule has been...... variable.

I am sure that if I the machine is delivered before that, I can still be talked into coming up.
